A building of God eternal in the heavens.

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

For we know that if our earthly house of [this] tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

Dwight L. Moody, Christian preacher, awakening from sleep shortly before he died said:
“Earth recedes. Heaven opens before me. If this death, it is sweet! There is no valley here. God is calling me, and I must go.” “No, no, Father,” said Moody’s son, “You are dreaming.”
“I am not dreaming,” replied Moody. “I have been within the gates. I have seen the children’s faces.”
His last words were,
“This is my triumph; this is my coronation day! It is glorious!”

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. But thank God we have Eternity to look forward too.

And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

Beyond the Veil…I see thee Lord

Beyond the Veil…I see thee Lord

After receiving Jesus and becoming a completely born again Christian and a new creature where old things just naturally passed away and everything was becoming new. I found myself reading this Bible verse over and over.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. It just didn’t register in the carnal mind. Kind of like when I was a kid being forced to go to Sunday school and hearing the phrase “God always was and always well be.” That really mind boggled me and I never forgot it.

So I kept reading that verse over and over and desperately praying about what it really meant and then all of a sudden the strangest thing happened. I don’t really know how to explain it other than I had a Spiritual experience where I felt like I was leaving my body and taking a Spirit Trip (if you will).

I felt my Spirit go beyond the pages of the Bible and God Himself explaining to me that he was the Word and the Spirit beyond the written pages and that I could find Him there in the Spirit by reading His Living Word.

I must have been gone for about ten minutes and then my friend asked me, “what is going on, what are you doing?” And I came back to reality but in my heart I had the greatest experience of my life and the Lord had pulled the strings of my heart into His Eternal Realm and revealed to me the depths of His riches to be found in His Living Word.

All of a sudden the Word became my link with God and that was all my heart and soul desired. I read it, memorized it and it has been my strength and guiding light until this day. And the “Spirit Trips” and quiet time with Him before His Throne or in the garden get sweeter and more loving everyday. I can’t make it through a day without meeting Him there. He makes life worth living. “A day in thy courts is better than a thousand” better that a 1000 days out of his presents.

So now you know my personal secret as to why I love the word. Because I met the author face to face beyond the pages and he waits for me there each and every day. We’ve become much more than friends, he has become my life and my everything, without Him I am nothing, my hearts desire is that He lives His life through me while I rest beyond the veil with Him.

“Beyond the sacred page I see thee Lord, my spirit pants for Thee thou Living Word.” -He’s waiting for all His true children to come unto Him.

Nobody despised the gospel more than………

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Nobody despised the gospel more than the slave trader John Newton. However, God touched Him with His grace and Newton not only turned his life from sin to God, but became a powerful preacher in early America.

It is no wonder, therefore, that he penned one of the favorite praise songs of all time. Newton’s tombstone (penned by himself) tells it all: “John Newton, clerk, once and infidel and Libertine, a servant of slavers in Africa, was, by the rich mercy of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, preserved, restored, pardoned, and appointed to preach the faith he had so long labored to destroy.” He wrote Amazing Grace.

Edward Mote spent his early career in the cabinetry business. One strong influence in his life was John Hyatt, who preached at Tottenham Court Road Chapel, one the chapels run by Lady Hundingdon.  Mote became a Baptist pastor in 1874, serving at Horsham, Sussex, for 26 years. He was so well loved that his congregation offered him title to the church building. However he replied, “I do not want the chapel, I only want the pulpit; and when I cease to preach Christ, then turn me out of that.” He wrote on Christ the Solid Rock I Stand.
